Sikhs Leaves for Pakistan To Celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji Birth Anniversary

A Sikh jatha organised by the SGPC is leaving for Pakistan today to participate in celebrations to mark Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary.

SGPC member Rampal Singh Behniwal is leading the jatha of 634 devotees to Nankana Sahib for the November 10 celebrations. The jatha is due to return on November 17th.

On the occasion, SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar said that every year a batch of about 3,000 Sikh Devotees visit Nankana Sahib for the celebrations, out of which 60 per cent are sent by them, but this year has been an exception. Out of 1400 visa applications, only 700 have been approved. The SGPC has demanded the Prime Minister’s intervention.
